You smell good!
In fact, you smell great!!
Is it your deodorant? A new cologne?
No of course it’s not.
You smell like life. That’s right. You smell like life.
Well, to me you smell like life.
And why is that?
It’s because of Jesus.
Let’s read why:
14 But thanks be to God, who always leads us as captives in Christ’s triumphal procession and uses us to spread the aroma of the knowledge of him everywhere. 15 For we are to God the pleasing aroma of Christ among those who are being saved and those who are perishing. 16 To the one we are an aroma that brings death; to the other, an aroma that brings life. [NIV]
God uses His followers, Christians, “to spread the aroma of the knowledge of Him everywhere” (v14b).
Because of the victory of Jesus Christ, because of the life death and resurrection of our Saviour, the true believer will have a ‘smell’ about them.
It is the smell of life.
The Bible calls it, “the pleasing aroma of Christ” (v15a).
For the unbeliever the aroma is a reminder of the choice they have made to live eternally without a Saviour, “an aroma that brings death” (v16a).
But for the believer, for the follower of Jesus Christ, this is “an aroma that brings life” (v16a). A comfort that no matter what life throws at them, their eternal salvation is secure and something to look forward to.
Jesus, the Author of Life, is why you smell so good.
Have you chosen Him?
Have you said yes to the Author of Life being in charge of your life?
I pray that you do.
I pray that everyday you will choose to say yes to Jesus in every single part of your life.
Read the Christian Bible and pray to the Eternal God.
Because as you say yes to Jesus, you will spread the aroma of life to your world.
